Fire Chief

Southern Platte Fire Protection District (MO)

Platte County, Missouri, is one of the fastest growing areas in the Kansas City metro, with an area of approximately 420 square miles and a population of about 110,000. Twenty percent of Kansas City falls within the county, which is also home to the Kansas City International Airport.

The Southern Platte Fire Protection District (SPFPD) is governed by a three-member board. The Board oversees District operations and appoints the fire chief. The fire chief designates career staff to carry out the responsibilities of the District, to include 2 deputy chiefs, 1 division chief, and 3 battalion chiefs. The Board and Fire Chief oversee a budget of almost 7.5 million dollars.

The Fire Chief also represents the District in local and regional groups such as Mid-America Regional Council (MARC). MARC is the nonprofit association of city and county governments and the metropolitan planning organization for the bi-state Kansas City region. It is key to serve on boards within such as Public Safety Communications and others that help SPFPD be current in regional, state, and national actions and discussions that impact the district.

If you meet the minimum qualifications and desire to manage this flourishing, passionate agency, don’t miss this opportunity to apply.
