Finance Subject Matter Expert

EMERGENCY SERVICES CONSULTING INTERNATIONAL

Emergency Services Consulting International (ESCI), the consulting division of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, is seeking a qualified Finance Subject Matter Expert to support select consulting engagements on a project contract basis. This role is primarily remote and will be managed through the assigned ESCI Project Manager.

ESCI is looking for an experienced professional with significant expertise in municipal government finance and special district financial operations, particularly as they relate to fire and emergency services organizations. The selected individual will contribute to consulting projects that assist fire departments, fire districts, and local governments in evaluating service delivery options, funding structures, financial performance, and long-range fiscal sustainability.

The Finance Subject Matter Expert will serve as a member of ESCI consulting teams, providing insight and analysis that help clients make informed strategic and operational decisions. This work requires the ability to interpret complex financial information and present it in a clear, practical manner for fire service executives, elected officials, and other stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Extensive experience in municipal finance and/or special district fiscal management
• Familiarity with the financial structures, funding mechanisms, and operational challenges of fire departments, fire districts, or emergency services agencies
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and communicate complex financial data in a strategic, decision-oriented context
• Ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative, project-based consulting environment
